Meat Market

Here are pictures taken at the Bush Meat Market in Brazzaville, here we have eels, turtles, smoked monkeys, crocodiles...

Yes indeedy, fresh monkey meat here, these are whole smoked animals, but the meat is also available cut up.

Sorry to say the bushmeat trade is alive and well in Congo Brazzaville. Today's foray into the Ouenze Marche' turned up this assortment of meat selections; also on offer were wild hog and antelope. Anything is fair game.

So, what, I'm wondering, did you bring home with you from the meat market? Seriously, becoming vegetarian seems sensible.

Seeing how horrific the animals are treated in those meat markets is nothing new for this part of the world. Remember, it was only a mere 100 years ago when cannibals frequently hunted human captives for the sake of eating them. I have read that as early as the mid 1900s many were still eating other humans. Very sick and twisted.
